Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, confiscated 1.1 kilograms of illegal narcotics that were being smuggled into the country.
According to Police, the narcotics were recovered in an operation conducted by Police in collaboration with Maldives Customs Services.
Disclosing that the illegal substance seized in the drug bust was cocaine, the authorities stated that the street value of the seized narcotics stood at approximately MVR 3 million.
Police also revealed that the drugs were smuggled across by a foreigner arriving to Maldives via Velana International Airport.
On Monday, Police uncovered 149 kg of illegal narcotics buried in an uninhabited island within Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. Authorities revealed that these drugs were smuggled through a sea route.
Thus far, arrests were made in relation to the '149 kg' drug bust.
