Maldives Customs Service has yesterday seized 3.5kg of drugs from a Maldivian passenger who arrived in the country on a Malaysian Airlines flight.
The drugs were seized from an air cargo shipment that arrived in Male' on Monday and in the possession of the passenger who came on Malaysian Airlines Flight No. MH485
Customs said that 3.5 kg drugs had been seized. With suspicions that the packages seized from the passenger were drugs, Customs conducted testing on the substances.
The first stage of testing showed that the drugs were of three different types. The seized drugs include:
- 3058 grams of heroin
- 315 grams of methamphetamine
- 215 grams of synthetic cathinone
Customs said that the passenger and the seized drugs have been handed over to Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
