Three Bangladeshis have been arrested and remanded for 10 days over the case.
Several expatriates have been arrested from Hulhumalé Phase 3 for cooking alcohol there.
Police said they noticed a foreigner in Hulhumalé Phase 3 carrying a box and observed his behaviour from then on. Officers witnessed him hide the box at the beach area, and when they attempted to intercept him, he assaulted the officers and tried to flee, Police said.
Upon checking the contents of the box, officers discovered 30, 500 millilitre bottles suspected to be alcohol. When officers arrived at their accommodation area, two other foreigners attempted to flee; both of whom who were also arrested.
72 additional bottles of the same size and an alcohol bottle were found from there as well. Police say the kitchen area also contained materials used to cook alcohol.
In the case, officers arrested three Bangladeshi men, who have received a 10 day remand from court.
