Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) appoints Hussain Mohamed as the Chairman of Maldives Sports Corporation Ltd on February 7.
Hussain formerly served as the General Secretary of the Volleyball Association of Maldives for two terms.
The Manager for the South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization has, in the past, served at the President's Office.
Hussain holds a Masters in Sports Management and was the Chef de Mission for the National Team of Maldives during multiple international events.
The Maldives Sports Corporation Ltd was established by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom under the Sports Act.
The corporation aims to develop sports throughout the nation by creating and advocating for equal opportunities for all registered sports clubs and associations, as well as utilizing various sporting infrastructures to generate income within the industry.
Further, it will also facilitate various programs targeting capacity development and training opportunities for the development of athletes. The corporation plans to develop the sector through collaborations with the National Sports Council.
The position of Chairman for the Maldives Sports Corporation Ltd was previously held by renowned football coach Ihusan Abdul Ghani.
