Eagles, which had an unbroken win record this season, has faced defeat in the match against New Radiant, losing 1-7.
Not getting the chance to compete in the Cup Winners Cup, Eagles started this season straight with the Dhivehi Premier League. Until yesterday's match, the team maintained consecutive wins. However, New Radiant won against them with a significant difference.
Pakistani goal keeper Saqib Hassan, who has played for other local teams as well previously, has never before allowed this many goals to be scored against his team.
New Radiant took control of the match early into the game, with Eagles' defence facing a strong challenge. New Radiant's forwards Captain Ali Ashfaq (Dhagan'dey), Ali Fasir (Sentey) and Dorielton Gomes Nascimento (Dori) tore through Eagles' defence.
New Radiant took the lead in the first ten minutes. In the ninth minute, Sentey threaded a through ball to set up the opening goal. He dodged keeper Saqib and sent the ball straight into the net.
In the 23rd minute, New Radiant received a penalty owing to a foul against Dhagan'dey in the Eagles area. This penalty was converted into a goal and further widened the lead. Towards the end of the first half, New Radiant celebrated their third goal when Dori scored through a header from a cross by Dhagan'dey.
Just four minutes into the second half, Sentey created a chance, through which Ibrahim Maisan shot a goal straight over keeper Saqib's head.
Sentey went on to score his second goal, adding to the team's tally, by shooting a ball from the right in a counter attack, which hit both goal posts but ended up inside the net.
In this goal, Sentey's individual skills were on full display. Eagles had no hope of stopping him.
Eagles finally managed to get rid of its zero score in the 80th minute when their Egyptian forward Amir Shoaib Al Sodiq scored their only goal.
New Radiant's sixth goal was scored by Liberian midfielder Abdullah “Yaya” Bility.
As the match neared its end, substitute players Ethan Ibrahim Zaki and Hassan Raif Ahmed (Hanna) displayed exceptional performances. Raif scored the team's seventh and final goal of the match through an opening provided by Ethan.
