Victory maintains their first place spot in the league table after winning 2-0 against Odi Sports.
League matches will be temporarily brought to a halt after the two matches on Sunday in order to give the national team time for the SAFF Championship in November. Victory's win against Odi will keep them in first as they go into the league break.
Ahmed Rizuvan (Rizey) scored the first goal for Victory in the 21st minute. He capitalized on a chance created by the team's Uzbek midfielder Mirjalol Kasimov, sending the ball into goal with a first touch.
Kasimov's technique in giving Rizuvan the opportunity to score must be highlighted. Instead of sending the ball directly into Odi's penalty box with the corner kick they got, Kasimov used a short pass to send it toward Victory's Hassan Nazeem (Chotey), who was in the box. Nazeem controlled the ball and passed it back to Kasimov. He was able to make a pass through Odi's defense and into the penalty box even with a defender on him. Rizuvan was able to slot the ball into goal upon first touch. There was nothing Odi's goalkeeper Mohamed Ashwan could have done.
Kasimov has used this technique in previous matches as well. He took a corner and sent a short pass during a game against Biss Buru Sports. He sent the ball high after he got it back, with Uzbek player Shohruhbek Kholmatov scoring a header.
Victory's second goal was also scored by Rizuvan. An attack from a combination play saw captain Naiz Hassan (Dhaadhu) create an opportunity for Rizuvan. Rizuvan controlled the ball from the captain and sent a strike from outside the corner of the penalty box into the far corner of the goal after controlling the ball.
Victory is the only team that has not lost this entire season until now. As the team did not get the chance to play in the Cup Winners Cup, they started the season with the league.
