Last night's Dhivehi Premier League (DPL) match between New Radiant and Buru Sports Club was postponed due to heavy rain in Male'.

The match was scheduled for 9:00 pm at the national football stadium, with the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) releasing the team list for the match to the press an hour before kickoff. Nevertheless, it was postponed half an hour before the match started as there was no way it could take place.

FAM said they would announce the date of the match sometime later.

It was raining during yesterday evening's match between Odi Sports and Eagles as well, which ended goalless. This result means Eagles maintain their undefeated streak.

Due to continued heavy rain for hours after the sun had set, many parts of Male' had experienced flooding, where some houses and shops had to deal with water entering their premises. The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) drained water from the roads continuously last night.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), MNDF , police, Male' City Council, MTCC, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Red Crescent have begun collaborating on an operation to take protective measures against damage that may be caused by the rain to the public.

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) said a storm may brew in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal due to the strength of the Southwest Monsoon (Hulhangu) increasing in the Maldives region.

A forecast from the MET Office states that the storm may cause rain across various areas of Maldives for the next 24 hours, with some islands experiencing torrential rain. Their forecast for the next three days reads high wind speeds and rough waters in the northern and central atolls in Maldives.
