The Maldivian national futsal team have begun preparations for the China International Futsal Tournament being held in Yinchuan, China.
The tournament will be held from 4th November 2026 to 9th November 2026, with Maldives, China, South Korea and Hong Kong competing.
Maldives match schedule for the tournament
- 5th November: South Korea - Maldives
- 7th November: Hong Kong - Maldives
- 9th November: China - Maldives
This is the second tournament the national team will be taking part in. Maldives competed in the 2026 SAFF Futsal Championship in January and won it with a 100 percent win record.
The captain for the Maldivian team in the upcoming tournament will be Mohamed Imran (Immi), who won the Best Futsal Player Award in the FAM Awards.
He scored 9 goals in the SAFF tournament and claimed the title of the player with the most goals.
Experts believe that the tournament in China will be Maldives' chance to prove the quality of the national team against Asia's strong powers.
Experts state that it will be more of a challenge to play against China, South Korea and Hong Kong in futsal, compared to South Asian countries.
