Buru Sports coach Cristian Rodriguez stated that players lose their concentration during the final stages of the match and that he will work to change that.
Buru was in the lead into the 80th minute of their match against Biss Buru Sports on Friday. Rodriguez highlighted the teams playing in the first half.
When he was asked whether the growth he wants can be seen within the team, the young coach referenced the first half played against Biss Buru. However, the Spanish coach said the match result got away from them at the last moment due to small mistakes.
"There is nothing bad I can say about the team's playing until the 80th minute of the match. We dominated until the 80th minute. But because of two mistakes and small differences, we lost the match," said Rodriguez.
He said that in order to win matches and get the results they want, players should be focused for the full 90 minutes and extra time as well. He also said players should give 200 percent of their attention until the 90th minute.
Rodriguez was asked during yesterday's pre-match conference whether 400 percent should be given during extra time if 200 percent is being given during the 90 minutes of the match.
"Perhaps," he answered.
"I told the players they should give 200 percent of their attention for the full 90 minutes while playing. These kinds of things will happen if they cannot focus for 90 minutes," said Rodriguez while gesturing to matches that escape their grasp at the last second.
While speaking about the obstacles in holding onto the result during the final stretch of the match, the coach said that if there were experienced players, it would be easier to control the last phase of the match and save the result.
"Players should know how to control the tempo of the match and hold the opposing team back while holding a 1-0 lead by the end of the match. I am sure these things would change if there were two to three experienced players. But we continue to work without having such players in the team."
Buru will be playing against Gadhdhoo this evening in the Dhivehi Premier League. Both teams are the only ones who do not have a point in the league.
