For the first time ever, the paralympic category has been included in the National Shooting Sport Championship, with applications now open. 

The Shooting Association said that the championship aims to develop shooting as an olympic sport and to create opportunities for youth and persons with disabilities. 

This year's championship has a total of five categories:

- Professional

- Open

-Paralympic

- School

- Corporate 

Applications for all these categories are open until October 4.

The championship will commence on November 5, and will be held at the shooting range at H. MuniUfaa, Male' and the Hulhumale' Shooting Range, the association said. 

The championship will feature individual, team, and mixed team events in 10 meter air rifle and 10 meter air pistol. 

Registration fees for the championship are:

- MVR 1000 for open individual events

- MVR 500 for school students in Grade 12 and under, as well as college students

- MVR 200 for team events

All events will have two rounds: a qualification round and a final round. 

The Shooting Association also said that professional category events will be conducted in line with International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) standards.
