Victory secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory against Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo Sports Club.
The match, played this evening in the Dhivehi Premier League, was won by Victory thanks to an own goal scored by a Dhidhdhoo player in the dying moments.
Played at the National Football Stadium in Malé, Victory ended the first half with a three-goal lead. In the second half, a resilient Dhidhdhoo side erased that deficit and even leveled the score.
Ahmed Rizwan, who scored two goals against TC Sports in Victory's first match, scored two goals against Dhidhdhoo as well.
He also scored the match's opening lead. In the third minute of the match, when Victory's Uzbek forward Mirjalol Gasimov (Kasimov) advanced with the ball near the edge of the area, Dhidhdhoo's goalkeeper Mohamed Shifau came out of the penalty area ahead of him and cleared the ball away.
The goalkeeper's effort came to nothing as Rizey obtained the ball before it went out. Since goalkeeper Shifau had left the goal and advanced, Rizey looked up and chipped the ball into the back of the net from somewhere around the middle of the half while positioned near the flank.
Victory extended their lead two minutes later through a goal by captain Naiz Hassan (Dhadu).
From a free-kick awarded to Victory around the middle of the half, Kasimov crossed the ball into the area, and because Dhidhdhoo's defenders failed to defend it properly, the ball fell to Rizey.
When he set up the ball for Naiz, the latter easily slotted the ball into the goal. The ball went in after grazing goalkeeper Shifau's hand.
Rizey scored Victory's third goal in the 41st minute of the match. Rizwan capitalized on a through pass sent from their backline into Dhidhdhoo's half. He then used his speed to run with the ball, bypassed the goalkeeper, and tucked it into the goal.
Victory entered the match featuring their young goalkeeper Mohamed Yameen. Their primary goalkeeper Mohamed Shafi has been away from playing due to a hairline fracture in a finger bone of his hand. It is believed he will have to remain away from playing for approximately three weeks.
Dhidhdhoo scored three goals in the second half past the goal guarded by Yameen.
The team's first goal was scored from a penalty awarded to Gideon Tete.
Dhidhdhoo's second goal was scored by Hussain Zimyan, who capitalized on a major blunder made by goalkeeper Yameen.
A ball passed by Victory's defender Furukhat Hasanboev to Yameen near the edge of Victory's area was not properly controlled by the goalkeeper.
Dhidhdhoo's Zimyan raced toward the ball, retrieved it from beneath Yameen's feet, and dispatched it into the goal.
Tete scored the goal that equalized the score for Dhidhdhoo from near the center circle inside Victory's half. He struck the ball first-time upon receiving it and sent it toward the goal. Goalkeeper Yameen had advanced forward. The ball entered the goal by sailing right over his head.
Dhidhdhoo, who achieved a victory against Buru Sports on the night of last Saturday in their first match of the league, gained hope that they could secure at least a point against Victory.
However, Dhidhdhoo could not bask in that comfort for very long. Two minutes after the score was leveled, as Ali Shamis (Thoppe) of Victory crossed a ball into Dhidhdhoo's area, team captain Adam Naseem inadvertently deflected the ball with his hand into his own goal while attempting to defend it.
