Buru, who finished fourth in the league last season, have had a difficult start to the new league after losing several senior players.

Mohamed Nizam, who coached the team last season, also left after the campaign.

Buru have appointed 29 year old Spanish coach Cristian Rodriguez as their new head coach. It is Rodriguez’s first head coaching role in a top division, having previously worked as an assistant coach at clubs in several countries.

Former Maldives National Team captain Ismail Asif (Kuda Heena) has joined Rodriguez as assistant coach.
