Playing in GDh. Gaddhoo in the first match played outside Malé in the history of the Dhivehi Premier League, New Radiant secured a 2-0 victory against the island's team.

Gaddhoo is the team that played the league's first home match outside Malé.

In the league introduced in 2000 as the Maldives' main league, island teams had played previously as well. However, matches for all those teams were played at Malé's National Stadium.

Previously, the Charity Shield match played to open the season was played on a home-and-away basis in Sh. Foakaidhoo. TC traveled to Foakaidhoo in 2018 and played the first leg match of the Charity Shield against that island's team. The second leg match was played in Malé.

The match between Gaddhoo and New Radiant was originally scheduled to be played yesterday. However, due to heavy rain, the match was postponed to today.

To watch the match played on Gaddhoo's pitch, many people stood along the outside of the fence. According to the match report shared by the FAM, over 400 people attended the stadium to watch the match played this evening.

Also this evening at Malé's National Stadium, Eagles played against newly league-promoted Bis Buru Sports. The number of supporters who attended that match was not included.

Both of New Radiant's goals against Gaddhoo were scored by Dorielton Gomes (Dorie). The opportunity to score those goals was created for him by Guilherme Silva, who also provided him with many passes in the Cup Winners' Cup.

In the eighth minute of the match, a cross delivered by Silva was headed by Dorie into the back of the net.

The second goal was scored during the first half's added time. That goal-scoring ball was also provided to Dorie by Silva. This time as well, Dorie jumped up to meet Silva's high cross and headed it into the goal.

Gaddhoo will play its second match in the league on its home ground as well. Eagles will be the next team to travel to that island. That match will take place next Friday.
