Victory Sports Club opened their league campaign with a 5-1 win over TC Sports Club last night.

Victory took the lead in the third minute after TC goalkeeper Daniel Emmanuel Eibio fouled Hussain Shareef Mohamed inside the penalty area. Uzbekistan midfielder Mirjalol Gasimov (Kasimov) converted the resulting penalty to put Victory ahead.

TC equalised in the 10th minute. Egyptian forward Mahmoud Ashraf won a corner, from which Maiz Waheed headed the ball into the net.

Victory regained the lead in the second half, scoring four goals.

Kasimov set up Ahmed Hussain (Ammadey) for Victory’s second goal with a free-kick from near the touchline on the edge of the penalty area. With TC’s defence unable to clear the ball, Ammadey slid it into the net as goalkeeper Daniel remained rooted to the spot.

Ahmed Rizwan (Rizey) made it 3-1 in the 70th minute. Victory’s Ali Shamis (Thoppe) crossed into the area and Daniel made a save, but failed to clear the danger. Rizwan reacted quickly to the rebound and fired the ball into the net.

Rizwan scored again from the penalty spot after TC defender Abdul Waheed Ibrahim (Waad) fouled Victory’s Hassan Nazeem (Chort) inside the area. Rizwan sent Daniel the wrong way before placing the ball into the top corner.

Al Haji Goro scored the fifth goal in the 87th minute, heading the ball into the net.

Rizwan was named player of the match.
