The Maldives Aquathlon Champion being organized by Swim Maldives will be held in Kulhudhuffushi.

The event includes swimming and running races, with last year's championship being held at K. Maafushi on 31st October and 1st November.

This year's race at Kulhudhuffushi will be held on 13th November and 14th November. Day one will have individual events and day two will have team events.

Athletes will start the championship with a swimming event. Upon finishing the swimming event, athletes will have to put on their shoes at the beach and begin the running event. 

Swim Maldives said that the championship will have three categories, which are Elite, Sprint and Discover Aquathlon.

A swimmer and runner can pair up for the team relay event. The podium placements for the event will be decided the same way as the individual event, regarding relay distance and age groups.

This category includes a 1 km swimming event and a 5 km running event. Those in the Men and Women's divisions can participate if they are older than 15 years. But if a child younger than 15 years wants to participate, Swim Maldives has said that arrangements have been made so that they can be given that opportunity.

This category includes a 500 meter swimming event and a 2.5 km running event. Only children below 15 years of age can participate in this category. Swim Maldives said that those above 15 years of age can also participate, but a guideline has been put into place by Swim Maldives where those older than the age of 15 will not receive podium placements.

This category includes a 200 meter swimming event and a 500 meter running event. Swim Maldives said this category is meant for children and first-time challengers who want to experience the championship in a non-competitive setting. The swimming portion of the event will be held in the lagoon at Maafushi Bikini Beach where contestants can touch their feet on the sand.

Swim Maldives stated that they will work to hold the Aquathlon Championship each year at islands on a rotational basis.
