As the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has decided to hold the Dhivehi Premier League (DPL), which is set to begin on 10th September, under home-and-away, HA. Dhidhdhoo and GDh. Gadhdhoo's home matches will be played on the islands themselves.

This is the first time Maldives' biggest football tournament is being held under home-and-away regulations.

10 teams will be competing in this year's league. This includes the top six teams of the previous season: Maziya, Odi Sports, New Radiant, Buru Sports, Eagles and Victory.

The other four teams claimed their spots from the Dhivehi League qualifiers, with the teams being Dhidhdhoo, Gadhdhoo, TC Sports and Biss Buru.

North Region League champion team Dhidhdhoo, Central Region League 1 champion team Biss Buru, Central Region League 2 champion K. Huraa, South Region League champion team Gadhdhoo, previous DPL season 7th place holders TC Sports and 8th place holders Green Streets played in the Dhivehi League qualifiers.

Under FAM's new framework, the top six teams from the previous season and the four teams that win the qualifiers will qualify for the DPL.

Of the 10 teams competing in the league aside from Gadhdhoo and Dhidhdhoo, as the rest of the teams hail from Male', their home games will be played at the Galolhu Stadium.
