The Cabinet has decided to pursue the target of allocating national team slots exclusively to athletes who do not use tobacco going forward.

According to the President's Office, during the Cabinet meeting held last Sunday, the Cabinet Sub-Committee on conducting the national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine presented several decisions.

One of the points among those proposals was setting special targets to ensure that athletes participating in national teams are individuals who refrain from tobacco use.

Furthermore, it was decided to expand the national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of nicotine and involve parties engaged in sports. The President's Office also stated that all proposals from the sub-committee were approved by the Cabinet.

Additionally, it was decided that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, will carry out efforts regarding the enforcement of the generational ban starting from the school level.

In the anti-tobacco and anti-nicotine campaign, the Ministry of Health is designated to determine a representative to participate from each inhabited island. The Cabinet also decided to involve at least one organization from each atoll and multiple organizations from the Malé area in the first phase of the campaign, according to the President's Office.
