Regar-TadAZ coach Alisher Tukhtaev said that even though they experienced difficulties when traveling to Maldives for their match against Maziya, it is not something they want to use as an excuse.

Coach Tukhtaev's team will be playing against Maziya today in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge League. The schedule stated that they were to play yesterday but, due to flight delays causing travel disruptions for Regar-TadAZ for their trip to Maldives, the AFC decided to move the match to today.

During yesterday's press conference for the match, Coach Tukhtaev said that he has no complaints.

"No one can know what will happen. We came late but that is not an excuse. This is how football is," said Tukhtaev, with his Cameroonian defender Joseph Feumba translating for him.

Tukhtaev believes that preparation will bring victory.

With the new changes to AFC's club tournament's, Maziya competed in the AFC Challenge League's first run in 2024. In 2026 and 2025, Maziya has competed in the Preliminary Stage in the qualifiers.

Regar-TadAZ played in the 2025 group stage as well. Tukhtaev said that nothing can be done with that experience.

"I am not talking about experience. I am not talking about a tournament. Everything is based on preparedness," said the coach.

"If Maziya is prepared, they will play well. If they are not, they will not play well."

The Maldivian national team played against Tajikistan's national team last year in the Asian Cup Qualifiers in Male'. Tajikistan's team had players from Regar-TadAZ.

Tukhtaev stated that he has a special strategy to beat Maziya and enter the group stage.

"We have our own strategy for the match. But, I do not want to say anything about it beforehand. It will be seen during the match."
