Future Homes Pvt Ltd, the company owned by former Maldives international footballer Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo), has agreed to vacate a building constructed on land allocated by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) in the Maafannu Stadium area.

The company built the structure on about 2,500 square feet of land that FAM had granted for 25 years without rent during the presidency of Bassam Adeel Jaleel. The land was allocated in exchange for clearing a rubbish dump valued at MVR 1.8 million.

After Ahmed Thoriq (Tom), was elected FAM president, the association ordered the company to vacate the property, arguing that the land had been allocated without a valid agreement.

Future Homes challenged the decision in the Civil Court, arguing that it would suffer irreparable losses if forced to vacate and that FAM did not have the financial capacity to compensate the company.

The court gave both parties two weeks to resolve the dispute through negotiations. Following those discussions, Future Homes withdrew its case.

In a statement issued, FAM confirmed that the company had agreed to vacate the building.

The association welcomed the decision, saying that the land can now be used for football-related purposes.

"The company's action demonstrates its commitment to the future of Maldivian football and its commitment to achieving a positive outcome for the football family," FAM said in an English-language statement.

FAM added that it remained committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to develop football in the Maldives.

The association did not disclose the terms of the agreement reached between the parties.

FAM's executive committee has established a committee to oversee the matter, comprising President Ahmed Thoriq and executive committee members Ahmed Abbas (Abbu), and Ali Rizwan (Ayya).
