Maziya Sports and Recreation Club began their Cup Winners' Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Odi Sports Club.

Fresh from retaining the FAM Charity Shield with a penalty shootout win over New Radiant Sports Club last Saturday, the reigning Dhivehi Premier League champions continued their strong start to the season with another victory, fielding a relatively young squad.

Maziya took the lead in the 18th minute through Maldives Under-20 international Ahmed Nassah Ibrahim Nasir. Odi Sports equalized 10 minutes later when Muzdhan Hassan found the net in the 28th minute. With the scores level, Maziya coach Truha introduced three foreign players in the 60th minute.

Nemanja Zdravkovic, Nikola Vujicic and Benjamin Thomas Kuku all came off the bench after the club had won the Charity Shield without using any foreign players.

Ahmed Aiham (Fatho), scored the winning goal in the 78th minute to secure all three points and give Maziya a winning start to their Cup Winners' Cup tournament.
