Maldivian swimmers concluded their Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow, Scotland, with a total of 12 national records.
The team set national records in four of the seven events contested on the final day of competition, bringing their campaign to a close.
Five Maldivian swimmers competed at the Games, with each setting at least one national record. Aminath Thazkiya Mirsad recorded four national records, while Looth Mohamed Hussain and Mohamed Rihan Shiham each set two individual records. Mohamed Aan Hussain and Meral Ain Latheef also broke national records, while additional records were set in the mixed relay events.

Rihan improved his own men's long course 400m individual medley national record on the final day. Having clocked 5:11.03 at the Bahrain Aquatics Cup earlier this year, he finished in 5:09.68, lowering the record by 1.35 seconds.
Rihan also competed in the men's 100m backstroke, finishing in 1:05.75. The time was 1.24 seconds slower than the national record held by Imran Ali.
In the long course 4x100m mixed medley relay, Rihan, Looth, Thazkiya and Meral combined to set a new national record of 4:31.16. The previous record of 4:40.23 was set by Thazkiya, Meral, Rihan and Mohamed Aan Hussain at the 22nd World Aquatics Championships in Singapore last year.

Thazkiya set two additional national records on the final day.
During the relay, she completed the opening 100m backstroke leg in 1:11.26, improving on her previous national record of 1:13.49, which she set at last year's World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
She also broke the women's long course 50m freestyle national record with a time of 27.99 seconds, surpassing her previous mark of 28.49 seconds set at this year's Asian Open Schools Invitational Aquatics Championships.

Looth finished the men's long course 200m breaststroke in 2:42.93, which was 1.91 seconds slower than the national record he set last year.
Meral also competed in the women's long course 200m individual medley, finishing in 2:43.93. The time was 4.07 seconds outside the national record held by Thazkiya.
Aan finished first in Heat 3 of the men's long course 50m butterfly with a time of 26.91 seconds. However, the result was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals and was 0.14 seconds slower than his own national record.
