The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has said they are working to arrange four friendly matches for their national football team during the September break as preparation for the upcoming SAFF Championship.

The 2026 SAFF Championship will be held in November at Bangladesh, with them having set their sights on winning the tournament on their home turf.

President of the BFF Tabith Mohammed Awal told Bangladesh news media "The Daily Star" that there will be a 10-day training camp for their national team in September.

"We will make arrangements for four matches. The aim is to go higher up the ranking and to prepare for the SAFF Championship."

Arrangements for an additional two-week training camp for the national team before the SAFF Championship will be made as well.

Bangladesh's football season is set to begin on 21st August. However, teams Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited, both of which will be playing the season kick-off match and have a far number of national team players, have not begun their pre-season practice yet.

The BFF stated they cannot remain dependent on the clubs, and that the national team's committee are closely monitoring the player's fitness, injury status and diet.

"We hope club practice sessions can begin by August."

Bangladesh's most important players include Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury, and Olbia Calcio's Fahamedul Islam. However, due to the SAFF Championship starting in November five days before the FIFA break, the players may not be able to play in the early stages of the championship.
