Road Recreation Club (RRC) beat STO 3-2 with Ismail Muneez's goal at the last second, and have defended the Club Maldives Cup champion title.

The final match took place last night at the Rehendhi Turf, with Muneez taking the lead for RRC when he scored a goal in the last minute of the first half. However, seconds after, Hussain Shareef (Only) equalized for his team, ending the half with a draw.

The 9th minute of the second half saw RRC take the lead once more when Shanaan Rashad scored.

Shortly after, STO's Ali Humaiz's shot on goal resulted in a handball foul from RRC's Adam Nasih (Aadhana) and was confirmed with video support, with STO receiving a penalty because of it.

Ismail Eesa (Messi) scored the penalty for his team and equalized.

The score was still tied close to full time, with penalties on the horizon. However, RRC's winning goal was scored with 23 seconds left in the match.

Last year's Player of the Tournament, Ahmed Aflaz crossed the ball to the front of the goal from the side, with Muneez scoring on the opportunity.

Muneez was named the Player of the Match in the final. With the two goals he scored in the final, he scored a total of 8 goals throughout the tournament.

Both STO and RRC, Road Development Corporation's (RDC) Club have four Club Maldives Cup titles.

RRC's first cup was won in 2017 under the name MRDC (Maldives Road Development Corporation). In 2019, the government abolished the MRDC and created the RDC, with them winning the cup in 2021.

Last year's final saw RRC face off against STO and win the championship title. This is the fourth year in a row that RRC has played in the final.

STO claimed the champion title in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015.
