Maldivian swimmers Mohamed Aan Hussain and Looth Mohamed Hussain have both broken national records during the swimming events at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games being held at Glasgow, Scotland.

Aan competed in the Men's Long Course 50 Meter Breaststroke event yesterday. Aan swam in the seventh lane during the second heat of the event and set a time of 29.18 seconds, placing fifth.

He held the record for this event when he set a time of 29.51 seconds during the 11th Asian Age Group Aquatics Championship in 2024.

Looth competed in the Men's Long Course 100 Meter Breaststroke event, swimming in the first lane during the second heat. He completed the heat with a time of 1 minute, 10 seconds and 63 milliseconds, and finished seventh.

Looth previously held the record for this event as well, with a time of 1 minute, 10 seconds and 95 milliseconds which was set during the 10th World Executive Junior Championship in 2025.

Maldives is participating in the swimming and running events during the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The national swimming team includes three male swimmers and two female swimmers, with the national runners team including three men and five women.

Swimming events will be held today as well, with running events to begin on Monday.
