Kings Basketball Club beat reigning champion T-Rex BC during the final of the MBA Championship with a score of 60-57 and have become the champion team.
This is the third time Kings BC, created in 2016, has won the MBA Championship. Their first championship was claimed in the 2019 final after beating Raptors 100-58. Their second championship was won in the 2022 final when they beat T-Rex 81-70. The 2025 final saw T-Rex claim the championship after beating Kings 62-54.
Even though Kings won the final match played at the Social Center's indoor court last night, the Player of the Match was Ismail Wildhan Yoosuf from T-Rex.
The top five players from the Men's Division are T-Rex's Wildhan, Aik Ahmed Mauroof, Mohamed Naaf Irushad, Red Wings' Lail Ahmed Shifan and Mohamed Ashmal. The Player of the Tournament was Red Wings' Zaidhan Athif Shakoor.
Kings BC went to the finals after beating Red Wings 92-85 in the semi final, with T-Rex beating the Stingers 101-56.
The Men's Division took place with 23 teams split into six groups. Group 1 had the Spartans, Phoenix Basketball Club, Mamba Basketball Club and the Vikings. Group 2 had T-Rex, Oni Sports Club, Lancers and Rhinos Basketball. Group 3 had Red Wings, Hulhumale' Sports Club, Hurricane BC and Sonic Basketball Club. Group 4 had Kings Basketball Club, LQ Sports Club, Unranked Basketball and Dragons. Group 5 had Nets BC, West End Sports Club and the Wolves. Group 6 had Royals BC, Star Sports Club and the Trojans Basketball Club.
The MBA Championship Shield Match also took place yesterday evening, where Nets BC beat LQ Sports Club 85-49 in the final. In the semi final, the Nets beat the Spartans 75-61. The second semi final match saw LQ Sports win against the Lancers with a score of 75-69.
Aside from the Social Center's indoor court, MBA Championship matches took place from 4th July to 22nd July at the Malé Sports Complex's (Ekuveni) Basketball Training Center.
