HDC secured their place in the final of this year's Club Maldives Eighteen Thirty Classic tournament with a 5-3 victory over STO in the semi-finals.

Competing in the tournament for the first time, HDC made a dream start by scoring in the opening minute. Farah Ahmed converted from a corner before Firshana Naseer doubled the lead three minutes later after being set up by Fathimath Saliya.

STO pulled a goal back in the fifth minute through Aminath Shafna.

The match remained closely contested after the break. STO equalised three minutes into the second half when Summayya binth Abdul Hameed finished after Fadwa Zahir won possession from an HDC player.

HDC regained the lead in the 10th minute through Aminath Risala, who was set up by Firshana's backheel pass. Less than a minute later, Fadwa equalized the scores again.

HDC responded immediately. Just 15 seconds after the restart, Risala restored her side's lead with a goal into the top corner of the net from Saliya's pass.

HDC sealed the victory with a fifth goal three minutes from full-time. Risala was named player of the match.

It is the first time HDC's women's team has competed in a Club Maldives tournament. The team reached the semi-finals after winning all three of their group-stage matches.

STO, who reached the quarter-finals last year before losing to STELCO, exited the competition at the semi-final stage this year.

HDC will face STELCO in Tuesday's final after STELCO defeated defending champions Prison Club in the other semi-final. The final is scheduled to kick off at 8:45pm.
