Future Homes Pvt Ltd has stated that they are not opposed to the vacating of a building built on land given to FAM, rather they are objecting to the damages the company might face.
Future Homes Pvt Ltd is the company of former football player Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo), which was given the 2,700 square foot plot by former Football Association of Maldives (FAM) leadership without any payable rent, and was meant for a football arena to be built.
Future Homes Pvt Ltd had built a two-storey building on the plot.
FAM's ExCo approved the decision to take legal action against the company yesterday, due to the company opposing the repeated requests from FAM to vacate the premises.
Regarding the matter, Future Homes Pvt Ltd told Mihaaru News that they are not opposing the vacation of the plot. The company said they are considering the damages they may incur due to them letting the plot go after having used company expenses to construct a building on the plot.
"A company will always have rights no matter what happens. Our argument is to consider the damages to the company. If our company is compensated, we have no reason not to let the plot go," as was said by a company official.
The land was apparently allocated to FAM without payable rent in exchange for an MVR 1.8 million agreement to dispose of waste. However, FAM said they have not signed such an agreement.
Future Homes Pvt Ltd has denied the allegations from FAM. The company said that an agreement was signed to clean the rubble and heavy construction equipment that had become waste.

FAM went on to say that Future Homes Pvt Ltd had built a two-storey building on the plot, but the company did not secure the necessary permissions to construct the building from the Housing Ministry and Male' City Council. FAM said they were told of this in writing by the ministry and the council.
However, the company has denied this allegation as well. The official stated that the building was constructed after obtaining the necessary permissions and after the blueprints were approved.
The official from the company stated that if the two institutions were to have said that, the company will discuss the matter with the institutions.
"The company will speak to both institutions regarding the matter," said the company official.
The official went on to say that if the company were to incur damages, they will work within their legal rights to obtain compensation.
