The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has decided to take legal action as Future Homes Pvt Ltd is opposing the notice from FAM regarding the vacation of a building built on land given to FAM. The association is issuing the notice in order to build a football stadium.

FAM released a general notice on 7th January to empty the warehouses and remove the goods located near the football stadium area. FAM said some parties had removed the goods and vehicles, and cleaned the area as well.

However, due to repeated requests to vacate the premises not being observed, FAM has decided to take legal action against Future Homes Pvt Ltd.

According to the Economic Ministry's business portal, the company belongs to former football player Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo). He is listed as the company's Managing Director.

FAM stated that the plot has not been vacated even after repeated requests. And so, FAM said they have decided to take legal action against the company.

"Future Homes Pvt Ltd objected to vacating the plot upon multiple requests, with them refusing to hand over the plot as well. We have decided to take legal action so that the plot can be vacated to build a football field," as was written in the statement regarding FAM's ExCo's approved decisions.

According to FAM, their previous leadership had leased a 2,500 square foot plot without any payable rent to Fazeel's company.

The land was apparently allocated to FAM without payable rent in exchange for an MVR 1.8 million agreement to dispose of waste. However, FAM said they have not signed such an agreement.

"No agreement has been made with FAM regarding waste disposal for MVR 1.8 million," as was said by FAM.

FAM went on to say that Future Homes Pvt Ltd had built a two-storey building on the plot, but the company did not secure the necessary permissions to construct the building from the Housing Ministry and Male' City Council. FAM said they were told of this in writing by the ministry and the council.

"The building was constructed without any permission being granted by state institutions, which includes the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, and the Male' City Council. Both these institutions have informed FAM that no permissions nor any blueprints were approved," as was written in a statement sent to the media by FAM.

Future Homes Pvt Ltd has denied the allegations from FAM. An official from the company said that they are not opposing the vacation of the premises, and that they do not object to vacating the land after receiving compensation for the company's expense toward the plot and for damages caused if they are vacated from the plot.
