Ahmed Jiwau Jihad, 15, claimed the champion title of the Bodyboarding Open division event held during Eleyi's, the Dhivehi Surf League's first event for the year.

Jiwau became the champion yesterday during the final heat after competing against experienced surfer Ali Javed (Jaatte), winning with a 0.1 point difference.

In the final heat, Jiwau's highest scores from two waves were 7.17 points and 6 points. However, due to interference, his second highest score was reduced by 50 percent, earning him 3 points. With this, his final score was 10.17.

Javed scored 4.50 and 5.57, earning him a total score of 10.07.

In the semi finals, Jiwau beat the 2025 Bodyboarding League champion Amin Umar Moosa. Jiwau had a total score of 12 points in the final heat of the semi final, with Amin scoring 11.23 points.

Javed progressed to the finals after beating Shimal Shameem in the semi final heat with a total of 12.50 points, securing his win with a 2.67 point difference.

19 bodyboarders competed in the Bodyboarding Open category.

Jiwau claims Junior champion title as well

Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) held a Junior Bodyboarding division for the first time via this tournament.

Jiwau claimed the champion title in the Junior division as well, with him scoring a total of 9.40 points in the final heat.

Four bodyboarders competed in the final heat, with Nooh Mohamed Dhunaim Irushad placing second with 8.44 points. Mohamed Liban scored 6.50 points and Shaif Shareef scored 6.24 points.

A total of 20 athletes competed in the Junior event.
