16 year old Yasin Ahmed Nasheed has claimed the champion title in the Men's Open division of the Eleyi's being held at Fuvahmulah, the first event in this year's Sea Sports Dhivehi Surf League.
This is the second time the 2025 Junior League champion has been named the champion in a senior category event. Yasin won the Open category in the 2025 Rannamaari Challenge at the age of 15.
Yasin became the champion after defeating 17 year old Mohamed Inan in the final heat held at Fuvahmulah. Yasin scored 9.07 points, while Inan scored 8.93 points.
The semi-finals in the tournament saw a junior surfer lineup. In the first heat, Inan scored 11.33 points, with Sayyid Salahuddin scoring 15.83 points to beat him. Yasin scored 12.20 points, beating Kayan Abdullah Areef as he had scored 10.33.
Along with Yasin claiming the 2025 Junior League title, he has also finished second in the national league ranking.
Yasin and Inan beat Ismail Rasheed (Smiley) and Ahmed Luzain in the second heat of the quarter finals. Sayyid and Kayan Areef beat the previous year's league champion Ahmed Agil (Ammadey) and Ahmed Hisham Shaheem in the first heat of the quarter finals.
This is the first time the Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) has held a national league level tournament at Fuvahmulah. The tournament saw Open, Junior, Women's Open Division, Men's Open and Junior Bodyboarding events.
Nooh Mohamed Dhunaim Irushad claimed the Junior surfing champion title. Naha Nasrulla was named the Women's Open champion, while Ahmed Jiwau Jihad claimed both the Bodyboarding Open and Junior champion titles.
The 2026 Muleekolhu Raalhugandu is the upcoming tournament for the league from 29th July to 1st August at M. Muli. After that, the 2026 Kerandoo tournament will be held at L. Maabaidhoo from 26th August to 29th August. The Rannamaari Challenge will be held at Varunulaa Raalhugandu, Male' from 2nd November to 8th November.
