The FAM's Competitions Committee has decided that Dh. Kudahuvadhoo lost 2-0 in the match they played against K. Huraa yesterday, after fielding players who were suspended due to accumulating yellow cards.

In the match played yesterday in Kudahuvadhoo to determine the champion of the Central Region League, the home team had secured a 4-1 victory over Huraa. However, because two players who were suspended for accumulating yellow cards were fielded in the match, the Competitions Committee reviewed the issue and decided that Kudahuvadhoo lost the match.

The Huraa team revealed that twenty minutes before the match started, the match commissioner was informed that those players were included in the starting 11, but the match was allowed to proceed at the time without the issue being looked into. After full-time, some discontent broke out on the pitch. Following this, FAM announced sometime last night that the Competitions Committee was looking into the matter.

The Competitions Committee decided tonight that Huraa won the match after reviewing the issue. With this, Huraa has secured the Central League championship. Additionally, FAM has disclosed that its Disciplinary and Ethics Committee is also further investigating the matter.

By playing yesterday's match, Kudahuvadhoo had initially secured first place. However, with the decision of the Competitions Committee, the team has finished the league with eight points from six matches. Meanwhile, Huraa has secured first place with 13 points from six matches.

Only one match remains in the Central Region League, which is conducted on a home-and-away basis. That is the match where Meedhoo will play against Mahibadhoo in Meedhoo. While Meedhoo sits in third place with six points, Mahibadhoo has obtained four points. The match Kudahuvadhoo played against Huraa in Huraa had ended in a scoreless draw.

With this, Huraa has secured a guaranteed spot in the next season's Dhivehi Premier League playoffs.

While FAM has begun efforts this year to establish a league system that encompasses the entire Maldives, the regional leagues serve as the second division. A total of six teams will play in next season's Premier League playoffs, alongside TC Sports Club and Club Green Streets, who finished seventh and eighth in this season's Dhivehi Premier League.

In addition to TC and Green, the other teams competing in the playoffs will be the Central Champion Huraa, the North Champion HA. Dhidhdhoo, the Male' second division champion Bis Buru Sports Club, and the team that wins the South Regional League championship. The top four teams from the playoffs will qualify for next season's Premier League.

Kudahuvadhoo previously played in the Premier League in 2017. The team was promoted to the Premier League by securing a spot in the semifinals of that year's Minivan Championship. Kudahuvadhoo also went on to win that tournament. During that period, FAM followed a policy of granting a direct spot in the Premier League to the teams that reached the semifinals of the Minivan Championship each year.
