Ali Nishtar Mohamed has resigned as the Green Streets coach after six years.

The turnover of football club coaches in Maldives is quite high, with Nishtar having spent the longest time in one club.

Nishtar, who has also held the position of Assistant Coach for the Eagles and BG Sports Club, started as a Dhivehi Premier League (DPL) coach in 2016 for the AA. Maalhos team.

Seasoned coach Ali Suzain left Green Streets in 2020, with Nishtar having taken on the role.

Nishtar has resigned as the coach of Green Streets as DPL playoff stage is fast approaching. The team did not manage to make it into the top six teams in the most recent league, with Green finishing in 8th place, making it so that the team has to compete in the playoffs.

Nishtar did not give a clear answer as to why he resigned. When Mihaaru News asked Nishtar about it, he said that he resigned so that he could focus on another project.

"There is work to be done for the Gold Cup as well. I am also working on Ali Rameez's Manfa Association's Manfa Academy," answered Nishtar.

"However, I will always have passion for the Premier League. Hopefully, you will see me at a Premier League club next season, God willing."

In the second round of the recent league, the required number of Green Streets players did not attend their match against New Radiant, which resulted in a match cancellation. FAM concluded that this resulted in a 2-0 loss to Green due to player absence.

As Green abandoned that match, Valencia, who were behind Green, were relegated to the Second Division. Green Streets secured their slot in the playoffs due to a lower goal difference when compared to Valencia.

Even though Nishtar and the club's coaching team had attended the match that day, he was unable to secure a win as there was a lack of players. The club's board stated that they did not welcome intentional match forfeiting. However, the club did not say that they would be taking action against the players who did not attend the match.
