Mauroof Ahmed (Maattey), the former Managing Director of Maldives Sports Corporation, has been appointed to the position of Consultant for the Ministry of Sports.

In this role, Mauroof’s primary responsibility is to advise Minister Abdulla Rafiu on the ongoing efforts to decentralize sports associations. Mauroof, who holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the Johan Cruyff Institute in Barcelona, stated that he has taken on this consultancy to assist in a very significant endeavor for Maldivian sports.

"A very important element of the 20-year Master Plan for sports is the decentralization of sports in the Maldives. This is also a very academic undertaking," said Mauroof, who also holds a Master's degree in Sports Marketing.

Mauroof is recognized as one of the most successful coaches in Maldivian football history, having led Victory Sports Club to numerous titles. As a former national goalkeeper and coach, he has had a distinguished career; notably, he is the coach with the highest number of trophies in Maldivian football, with a total of 13 titles to his name.

Previously, Mauroof has also served as the Technical Director of the FAM and as the Chairman of the FAM Awards Committee.
