New Radiant defeated TC Sports 3-0 in the final to lift the FA Cup.

It is the club’s first trophy since winning the 2018 Male' League title, later the same year in which it was suspended by the Football Association of Maldives.

The club returned to competitive football in 2022 in the second division. After spending two seasons there, New Radiant were promoted to the first division, taking the spot vacated by Super United Sports.

They earned promotion as the better-performing of the two losing semi-finalists in the second division, with the two finalists taking the automatic promotion places.

New Radiant had previously won the FA Cup in 2017, also beating TC in the final.

Ali Fasir, known as Sentey, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being brought down in the area by TC’s Hassan Inaz.

Fasir calmly converted with a Panenka-style penalty, sending the ball gently down the middle after wrong-footing goalkeeper Daniel Abio.

Nigerian forward Alhaji Jero doubled the lead in the 40th minute. After a low cross from Brazilian midfielder Gilliam Silva deflected off a TC player, Jero struck a low shot from outside the area that went in off the post.

The pair combined again for the third in the 82nd minute, as Silva’s cross into the box was headed home by Jero.

The victory marks New Radiant’s 13th FA Cup title, extending their record as the competition’s most successful club.

It also takes the club’s overall trophy haul to 50 — the first team in Maldivian football history to reach the half-century mark.
