TC Sports Club has beaten Buru Sports Club 2-0 in the second semi-final of the FA Cup and have secured their placement in the finals.
TC's Prince Boadu scored both the goals in the game played at the national football stadium last night.
With this win, TC are to play against New Radiant in the finals.
Even though TC ended the Dhivehi Premier League in the relegation zone, Buru Sports, one of the top four in the league, saw TC in good form. This result has proven TC's growth as a team, one that has been on display this season.
The last time TC has played in an FA Cup finals was in 2017 and also in 2016. Buru's current coach Mohamed Nizam was the one to have led TC to the finals in both years. However, TC has beaten Buru this time around and have advanced to the finals.
Nine years ago in 2017, TC played the FA Cup final against New Radiant as well. New Radiant won the cup after winning in a penalty shootout. This final will be an opportunity for TC to even the score.
TC current coach Ahmed Athif (Athi) took on the role of coach in the middle of the season. After he had been named coach, the team's playing has improved significantly, with their results beginning to show just that.
The FA Cup final will be held on 18th April, Saturday night. The match to decide third place will be played on Saturday evening between Buru and Blue Sports. New Radiant claimed their spot in the finals after beating Blue Sports.
