New Radiant has advanced to the final of the FA Cup after defeating Blue Sports Club 7-0 in the semi-final, powered by a hat-trick from Ali Fasir (Sentey).
New Radiant, who have won the FA Cup a record 12 times, last competed in the tournament in 2017. They finished that year as the champions of the competition.
New Radiant scored five goals in the first half of this afternoon’s match. Yaya Bility took the lead in the third minute, firing the ball into the net after controlling a pass from Sentey.
Following that, Guilherme de Silva sent an attempt over the crossbar, while an effort from Sentey struck the side post of the goal. New Radiant extended their lead through a penalty awarded by the referee after deciding the ball had hit a Blue Sports defender’s hand. Sentey successfully converted the penalty in the 18th minute. New Radiant’s third goal was scored in the 21st minute by Alhaji Gero, who headed home a ball delivered from a free-kick by De Silva.
In the 41st minute of this half, Hassan Raif Ahmed (Hanna) scored New Radiant’s fourth goal with a header from a corner taken by De Silva. In the third minute of first-half injury time, Gero scored the fifth goal following a pass from Hanna.
Two minutes into the second half, Sentey scored his second goal from a ball crossed by De Silva. He completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute by controlling a ball provided by Hassan Azoom Ali and sending it into the bottom corner of the net.
Sentey also scored a hat-trick against Odi Sports Club in the tournament's quarter-final. This marks his 18th goal for New Radiant this season.
A third-place play-off is scheduled to be played between the two teams that lose in the semi-finals.
