Club Matrix have been crowned the champion of the newly introduced National Netball League held by the Netball Association of Maldives.
Matrix competed against six teams in the league and won all five of their matches, securing both 15 points and the champion title.
Matrix beat Sports Club Shining Star in the final match of the league that took place Saturday night, with a winning score of 99-14. The Player of the Match was Matrix's Goal Defense (GD) Aminath Firusha.
Club Matrix is the champion team in Division 1 of the 2025 National Netball Tournament. The team won the 2024 National Netball Tournament and the 2024 Netball Association Championship as well after beating Club Green Streets.
Club Green Streets came in second in this year's National Netball League. Their one loss came from their game against Matrix, with Club Green Streets finishing the league with 12 points. The club defeated Kulhudhuffushi Youth and Recreation Club (KYRC) in their final match on Saturday, with a score of 66-53. The Player of the Match was Club Green Street's Goal Attack (GA) Layan Ali Rasheed.
KYRC placed third in the league with three wins and 9 points. MV Netters won two matches and Shining Star won one match. N Sports Academy was the only team to not have won a match.
The teams who were able to participate in the first National Netball League were the top four teams in Division 1 of the 2025 National Netball Tournament and the two teams that made it to the Division 2 finals. The two teams from Division 2 of the 2025 National Netball Tournament are champion team N Sports Academy and runner-up team MV Netters.
The 2026 National Netball Tournament is the next highlight in netball. The top four teams from the league, Matrix, Club Green Streets, KYRC and MV Netters will be playing in Division 1. Shining Star and N Sports Academy will be competing in Division 2.
