The first athlete to finish the Oceanman Maldives race has stated that they have never had such an experience before where they have swam in the ocean.

Around 180 athletes competed in the 2 Kilometers race of the Oceanman Maldives being held in Maafushi waters.

The first athlete to finish the race was Vietnam's Winwin.

After finishing the race, the athlete said that the experience of swimming in Maldivian waters was a completely different and satisfying one. They also said that the trip made to Maldives for the Oceanman Maldives event is their first time in the country.

"This is a very different feeling. The views under Maldives' waters are perfect. I saw a lot of different fish," said the athlete.

While going into detail of the sights under the water as they were swimming, the athlete stated that this was the most marvelous experience they have had. As Maldivian and foreign swimmers are participating in the 2 Kilometers race, Maafushi beach currently looks like a sporting festival.

The 2 Kilometers event, which started today at 6:30am, is the first race in Oceanman Maldives in Maafushi.

181 swimmers participated in the 2 Kilometers race. The tournament is being organized by private Maldivian club Swim Maldives and is being held in K. Maafushi, with 532 swimmers from 40 countries having registered for the event.

46 swimmers will be taking part in the 10 Kilometers category, the longest swimming race being held in Maldives.

143 swimmers will be taking part in the 5 Kilometers race and 181 swimmers in the 2 Kilometers race. Swim Maldives said that 20 swimmers will be competing in the 2 Kilometers Fins category.

73 swimmers will be competing in the Ocean Kids event, specifically for children, with 69 swimmers from 23 teams competing in the team events.
