It has been revealed that Indonesian competitors in the Oceanman Maldives competition being held in collaboration with Oceanman Global, a world famous open-water swimming franchise are in strong spirits.
Swimmers from 40 countries have registered for the event, with the tournament being organized by private Maldivian club Swim Maldives.
The tournament is being held on 10th April, Friday and 11th April, Saturday at K. Maafushi, with the Indonesian players sharing their ideas on an Instagram post.
"We cannot wait to swim in Maldives' beautiful waters. Oceanman Maldives will be a very different experience for us. Our entire team is in strong spirits to complete this event in Maldives," said an Indonesian athlete.
According to Swim Maldives, a total of 532 swimmers will be taking part in the event. 72.37 percent of the swimmers in the tournament are foreign swimmers, totaling 385 contestants. The rest of the 147 swimmers are Maldivian.
Aside from Maldives, the highest number of swimmers are from India, with 54 swimmers.
46 swimmers will be taking part in the 10 Kilometers category, the longest swimming race being held in Maldives.
143 swimmers will be taking part in the 5 Kilometers race and 181 swimmers in the 2 Kilometers race. Swim Maldives said that 20 swimmers will be competing in the 2 Kilometers Fins category.
73 swimmers will be competing in the Ocean Kids event, specifically for children, with 69 swimmers from 23 teams competing in the team events.
Swim Maldives stated that this will be a significant advancement for sports tourism in the Maldives. This event will become the largest international sports activity held in the Maldives to date.
Including athletes, their families, and close associates, more than 1,300 people are expected to visit Maafushi over those two days.
