Nepal has moved closer to securing a place in the semifinals of the Under-20 Championship after achieving a 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka in the tournament's group stage.
Having won both of their first two matches, Nepal is now the team closest to the tournament's semifinals. In their first match, the team defeated Bhutan.
Nepal took the lead in the first half of the match played today at the National Football Stadium in Malé. That goal was scored by Subhash Bam. With this goal, Nepal maintained control of the match and has secured a spot in the semifinals. Nepal has one match remaining in the group stage. In that match, the team will come out against the Maldives.
Since Nepal has already qualified for the semifinals, it is possible that some changes may be seen in the team for the match against the Maldives. However, for the Maldives, this match is extremely important to progress further in the tournament.
