Former New Radiant Technical Director Francisco Manuel Caínzos has been appointed as the Head Coach of the team.
The Barcelona-born Spaniard played for Barcelona's U-19 team during his earlier football career.
Caínzos was appointed as the Technical Director of New Radiant in January up until last Saturday. Ali Suzain stepped away from his role of coach for New Radiant and is now the Technical Director. As per the club, Suzain resigned from his Technical Director post due to family matters.
Caínzos, 52, is an acquaintance of former legendary New Radiant coach Óscar Bruzón Barreras. Sources have told Mihaaru News that Óscar, who is currently the head coach of Indian Super League club East Bengal, was the one who recommended Caínzos for the position.
New Radiant stated that they hope to find success with Caínzos in their work to reclaim their "royalty" status in Maldivian football.
"Caínzos is a skilled coach who has garnered quite a bit of experience in football. We have new hopes that New Radiant will reach great heights by winning the upcoming FA Cup under his instruction," as was written by New Radiant on a social media post.
"We wish Caínzos every success in his efforts to bring New Radiant back to its proud royalty."
Even though Caínzos was brought to Maldives to be appointed as the Technical Director in January, sources have told Mihaaru News that the club is thinking of permanently making him the head coach of New Radiant some time in the future.
