Odi Sports Club coach Andrés García has said that playing their first season in the top division of Maldivian football and then winning the football tournament of the highest honor, the President's Cup, is a dream come true.

Odi has lifted their first trophy after getting to the First Division by beating Maziya in the finals via a penalty shootout. Spanish coach Garcia said that he has no words to describe this win. In a post-match interview he gave to PSM, he said that this is the result of the team's hard work.

He also said that not only is this a win in a football match, this is well-deserved after the hard work that was put in throughout the season.

"It is like a dream come true. We fought hard. And we won that fight today," said Garcia.

This is the second time Odi has played against Maziya in a final. Odi Sports had gone to the FAM League Cup Finals during the off-season tournament and played against Maziya, with Maziya winning 4-0.

Garcia was brought in as Odi's coach after that tournament, with him bringing out changes in the style of play. He said that even though they lost against Maziya in the league, trust had grown within him towards Odi due to how they played in those matches.

"Maziya is a very strong team, but we know we may be able to stop them," stated Garcia.

While speaking about his relationship with the players, Garcia said that Odi's players are like family to him. He said that he speaks to his own children in a stern manner when the time calls for it, and that it is to set them straight and keep them on the right path. 

In that same vein, Garcia said that he has to apply that same stern tone to his players so that their playing improves and so they are able to reap the benefits.

"These players are my family, players who I see as though they were my children even though I have to reprimand them when I am brought to anger at times," stated Garcia.

As per the coach, even though he may be stern with his players, the reality of this achievement is the trust the players have in him.
