After beginning to compete in the First Division, Odi Sports Club has beaten Maziya and claimed their first President's Cup. A 1-1 score at full-time resulted in a penalty shootout where Odi clinched a win with a score of 5-4.
Maziya's Naiz Hassan (Dhaadhu) took the lead in the 3rd minute, where they capitalized on Odi's defense having not fully set up.
However, Odi created opportunities by pushing up the field and equalized in the 14th minute. Odi's Ibrahim Waheed (Ibbe) claimed possession from a Maziya player. He passed the ball from the sideline to Ahmed Aiham (Aihu), with him proceeding to cross the ball into the penalty box. Ahuzam Rasheed crossed the ball to the front of the goal, with Keanu Marsh-Brown slotting the ball into goal.
Odi created further goal scoring opportunities in the second half, but were unable to fully capitalize, resulting in the penalty shootout.
Odi experienced difficulties in the early stages of the shootout. While Barnabas Toth scored the first penalty, the next two penalties did not see the same result. Vice Captain Ibrahim Waheed's attempt was foiled by Maziya goalkeeper Hussain Shareef, with Captain Mohamed Rasheed's (Hockey) penalty striking the goal post. However, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Islam Fekry, Ganiu Atanda Ogungbe and Ahmed Aiham scored on their attempts, with Aiham's being the winning goal.
The first three penalties from Maziya's Hamza Mohamed (Hampe), Nazim Mammadzada and Mohamed Ilan Imran had seen the back of the net. The subsequent penalties from Ibrahim Aisam (Tony) and Ahmed Aiham (Fatho) were stopped by Odi goalkeeper Mohamed Shafeeu, but he was unable to stop Regan Obeng's shot. Their final penalty from Hussain Sifau Yoosuf (Kuro) was also stopped by Shafeeu, who was named the Player of the Match.
Odi's 18 year old midfielder Ahzam Rasheed (Ahu) claimed the Best Player award, along with having scored the most goals in the President's Cup.
Odi Sports competed in the Dhivehi Premier League for the first time this season, with them having gone to the FAM League Cup Finals during the pre-season tournament. Odi played against Maziya in that final as well, with Maziya winning 4-0.
Odi finished second in the Dhivehi Premier League, right behind Maziya. In the two games they had played against each other, Maziya had won both games with a score of 1-0.
