Buru revive semi-final hopes with 2-1 win over Victory

Buru Sports Club kept their President’s Cup campaign alive with a 2-1 victory over Victory Sports Club, reigniting their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

All three goals came after the break in a tightly contested encounter.

Buru struck early in the second half, taking the lead in the 47th minute when Hudson de Jesus converted after a well-timed pass by Hassan Gais Mohamed.

Victory drew level 20 minutes later. In the 77th minute, Hussain Niyaz Mohamed (Bokuree) delivered a ball into the area that deflected to Milos Lechny, who found the net while attempting to break through Buru’s defence.

Just four minutes after the equalizer, Abdulla Yameen (Yaanu) set up De Jesus for his second goal for Buru, restoring Buru’s lead and ultimately sealing the win.

Victory and Buru are in Group 1 alongside Maziya. Buru lost their opening group match 1-0 to Maziya.
