Club Green Streets, which has a history of intentionally failing to show up for matches and forfeiting games, has once again revived that culture by forfeiting a match.

The Green Streets players failed to gather enough numbers for the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League match scheduled for this afternoon against New Radiant.

Despite this, the team list released before the match included Green’s starting 11.

Given their track record of the foul habit of intentional forfeiture, had Green Streets lost by a significant margin today, the club would have been relegated to the Second Division.

Therefore, it is believed that the team intentionally forfeited the match this time to avoid a heavy defeat and ensure their safety. When a match is forfeited, the opposing team is awarded a win by a margin of only two goals.

However, even when it was time to start the match, their players were not present in sufficient numbers. FAM decided that New Radiant had won the match with two goals.

Green Streets had previously forfeited league matches in 2023.

In fact, they forfeited all matches in the final round of the league that year. However, there was no fear of relegation at the time as FAM had decided that no team would be relegated that year.

By forfeiting and having the result recorded as a two-goal defeat, Green Streets gained an advantage over Valencia through goal difference. With this decision, Valencia has now been relegated to the Second Division.
