Maldivian athlete Yusuf Naik Vajeeh, 17, has won Gold in the High Jump and Long Jump events at the Dubai Jump Fest Competition.
Naik, who has the national record for the high jump, has broken his record at the competition. His previous record of 1.88 meters was set at the 12th Athletics Association Championship, with him breaking that record at the Jump Fest Competition with 1.92 meters.
The Villa International High School student had competed in April 2025's championship on behalf of the Track and Field Association, where he had broken a 15 year 6 month record at the age of 16.
The previous national record was set by Ahmed Zabeer in October 2009 at the 8th Athletics Association of Maldives Championship with a jump of 1.85 meter.
Naik also holds the Junior Under 18 and Under 20 Youth High Jump records.
The Jump Fest was organized by AIS Athletics, one of the most acclaimed track and field clubs in Dubai.
Naik had completed a one-month jump training program under the instruction of Coach Anson at UAE.
