Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced that it will hold an open selection to form the national squad for the Under-20 SAFF Championship, which will be hosted in the Maldives from March 23 to April 3.

The open selection will take place on January 31, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the Galolhu Official Football Stadium.

Players born in 2007, 2008 and 2009 are eligible to participate in the selection.

The Maldives have been placed in Group A of the tournament alongside Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh, India and Pakistan are in Group B of the seven-nation championship.

This will be the first time an Under-20 SAFF Championship is being held in the Maldives.
