New Radiant holds back Maziya from achieving champion status

New Radiant were able to defend Ali Ashfaq's (Dhagandey) penalty at the last second, holding back Maziya from achieving champion status.

Maziya's league win was all but confirmed before they went onto the field to play last night at the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League. This is because Odi Sports, who are in second, did not win their previous game.

Last night's game played at the national stadium saw a 2-2 draw.

All of the goals in the match were scored in the second half. Hassan Nazeem (Choatu) and Captain Samooh Ali's goals took a two-goal lead in the second half. However, they were unable to defend that lead.

New Radiant's Nigerian forward Alhaji Jero scored the first goal for his team in the 58th minute.

Ashfaq came onto the pitch as a substitute in the 82nd minute and scored a penalty 10 minutes into extra time.

The match ended with that penalty. Ashfaq has scored in two games back to back. New Radiant only has one game left in the league, which they will be playing against Green Streets next Thursday.
