President to greet National Futsal Team in ceremony

The Sports Ministry has announced that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will attend tomorrow night's ceremony at the Artificial Beach to celebrate the National Futsal Team's victory. At the event, he will formally welcome the team, returning as SAFF Futsal Champions.

The Sports Ministry has announced that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will attend tomorrow night's ceremony at the Artificial Beach to celebrate the National Futsal Team's victory. At the event, he will formally welcome the team, returning as SAFF Futsal Champions. 

Maldives emerged as Champions of the first South Asian futsal tournament without conceding a single match. 

The Sports Ministry has organized an event for tomorrow night to celebrate the team's success. The ministry stated that President Muizzu will be addressing the players at the ceremony. 

The event will also feature a fireworks show, the ministry said. 

The team's return flight is scheduled to arrive at Velana International Airport (VIA) at 7:45pm tomorrow. Senior officials of the Sports Ministry will be at the VIA Terminal 1's VIP area to receive the team, according to the ministry. 

Tomorrow night's celebration schedule released by the Sports Ministry shows the team then heading to Artificial Beach on a pickup truck, allowing the public to greet and cheer the returning heroes. 

President Muizzu will then meet the team at the Artificial Beach at 10pm. 

The trophy will be presented to President Muizzu, followed by a group photo with the players and officials of the team. 

The President will then deliver his address, before the celebrations are concluded with the National Anthem. 

President Muizzu has also announced that in recognition of the National Futsal Team's victory in the SAFF Futsal Championship and the National Football Team's success in the South Asian Super Cup held in Sri Lanka in September, 2025, the two teams will be presented with MVR 1 million as prize money.
