National Futsal Team Coach Farrukh Zakirov has stated that the team's objective, from the start, was to win the SAFF Futsal Championship. 

"Before the tournament began, I assigned a task to everyone, including myself. That is, that we don't want anything except the championship trophy. Alhamdhulillahi, we achieved our goal," Zakirov said to media after the match. 

"The players met some difficulties in playing in an indoor stadium, but they received a lot of help from the China camp. I think they play very well now."

Zakirov went on to thank Maldivians for their support, and expressed his belief that futsal will be more rapidly developed in the country now. 

He stressed the importance of beating Sri Lanka in the remaining league match, hoping to finish the tournament without a single defeat. 

Maldives has gone on to win all five matches played. They opened with a 7-1 win over Pakistan, followed by a 6-1 triumph against Bangladesh. Against India, Maldives dominated 5-0 without conceding a goal. Their fourth match saw a narrow 2-1 win over Nepal, and yesterday they defeated Bhutan 3-1.
